Our first visitors! Of course it would be my mom and her friend Jonnie! She’s been excited for us to move to Germany so she could visit so I’m not surprised she took her Spring Break to come see us. I didn’t know how much exploring we would be able to do since when she booked her ticket we still only had one car. But thankfully my car made it here just in time. We didn’t have a whole lot planned because we weren’t too sure of Mike’s schedule, but we had lots of things we wanted to do. She flew into Frankfurt and that is about a 3 hour drive for us. We went us the night before so we didn’t have to make that long trek in the morning. She arrived right on time and she spotted us in the airport by picking out Lucy! We debated stopping and doing some exploring on the way home, but Mike had to check into work so we just went home. We did stop at a bakery for the ladies to get something sweet, which was top of my mom’s list! Monday night we went to a local German restaurant and called it an early night…jet lag is no joke.

Tuesday was my 18 week doctors appointment. I scheduled an ultrasound for when she was here so she could see it in person and also, the doctor was hoping to see the gender! The appointment went so good! Baby looked amazing on ultrasound and was moving all over the place. The doctor was about 95% of the gender, so she wrote it on a sheet of paper that way we could do a mini gender reveal with her and Mike that afternoon. Jonnie was instrumental in making it a surprise for all 3 of us!! It was so special having her here for an ultrasound, rather than just FaceTiming and to get to find out the gender together! (Sex to be announced later when it’s more certain!)

Wednesday we got up early and made the drive to Dachau concentration camp. It was the first concentration camp established during WWII. It was very eerie walking around the same grounds where so many innocent people died. For obvious reasons, the gas chamber and incinerator were the most disturbing. This was the first concentration camp I had visited, but there was SO much information. It was overwhelming and emotionally draining. Afterwards, we grabbed some lunch in the town of Dachau. It was this cute little Italian place where they didn’t speak German but Italian ha. We stopped at a chocolate factory on the way back home and spent way to much money.

Thursday, I was an idiot. It was March 16th but ALL day I thought it was March 17th. I even told my mom to wear green because it was St. Patrick’s Day. I was supposed to get wifi installed (FINALLY) on the 17th, so I was going to stay home while the girls took the train to a nearby town, Regensburg. Well about 30 minutes after they left, I realized it was March 16th. Blame it on pregnancy brain. So I quickly hoped in my car to meet up with them. We roamed around shopping, taking pictures, and exploring. We got lunch at a cute little cafe and then topped it off with gelato! It was the perfect March 17th, haha

Friday, actual March 17th, the ladies wanted to do something crazy so they were going to take the train down to Zurich and depending on when my wifi got installed, I would meet them down there with Lucy! In typical German fashion, there was issue with installing the wifi so I just met them at the train station and we all drove down the Zurich together. It was a long and stressful drive. (Kudos to Mike for always being our driver, its not enjoyable!) The iPhone GPS got super confused in Switzerland so we got lost probably 3 times. After finally finding the hotel and dropping our bags off, we started exploring! Just popping in and out of stores. I toyed with the idea of buying Mike a watch, but when the girl told me the price ranged went to $100,000 I told her I didn’t like my husband that much, hahaha! (Kidding obviously, babe!)

Saturday the weather was rainy so we just checked out a Swiss chocolate store and then headed back to Germany. Mike was able to come home that evening, so we had to get dinner made for him! The ladies wanted to spend their last night hanging out with us just relaxing, which was perfect. My mom didn’t actually fly out until Monday, but since she was flying out of Frankfurt she wanted to take the train up there Sunday night. I didn’t want her to leave a day early, but it was nice to not have a 6 hour drive!

We have had such a rough transition here, issues with almost everything so it was nice having my mom come and just spend time with us. We didn’t do anything super crazy (I mean, Zurich was pretty cool!) There is just so much we want to do with her, but it was nice to just have company. She helped us talk about nursery ideas, set up the house, and just love on us!! I wish she could come back every month, but she will be here after baby is born to meet the new edition!!
